The colors of Florence and Tuscany
Since I decided to open a website devoted to the city of Florence and to the Tuscany Region, I had a great doubt as to the choice of colour to give the background of the site.
Between the red colour of the
symbol of Florence town - the lily of Florence - and the green colour of the Tuscan territory, I preferred to choose the green colour typical of the Tuscan countryside.
If you wish to compare the English countryside with the Tuscan, the first one
is greener, damper and the colours are softer than in Tuscany, less intense. The Tuscan light is clearer, very beautiful....the colors of Tuscany come from the earth and the natural colors found in the Tuscan region. Tuscany is a sunny area of Italy and the colors of the countryside tend to sandy ochres, terra-cotta and olive green. Combine these tones to create a color palette reminiscent of Tuscany.

Florence
Dante Alighieri and the birth of the italian language, great artists such as Giotto and Michelangelo, monuments and museums, local wars and civil virtues, Chianti and great food, the lively character of the people: these are just some of the reasons why the most important Tuscan city, Florence, located on the Arno river at the foot of the Fiesole hills, is associated to such an extent with the Italian national idendity. The city of Florence began to distinguish itself in medieval times, as the arts and crafts began to thrive.

Bella Toscana
Tuscany! Beautiful Italian region. I wondered why it was the middle of so many foreigners, especially British people. After you visit you can not stay away.
Many visitors who travel to Italy want to spend time in charming Tuscany. The region Tuscany is a place that conjures up images of rolling hills lined with vineyards and olive trees.
This region, known for its beautiful landscapes, is located in the central part of Italy, with Florence as the capital. The rolling hills that slope down to the coast are dotted with working farms and vacation villas suitable for the most adventurous tourists or those who desire first class accommodations.
Tuscany is often referred to as the true birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, due to its rich artistic culture. It is home to many influential creators and inventors in the art and science arenas.
There are plenty of museums in this region, which house famous masterpieces including the Uffizi, Pitti Palace, and Accademia Gallery (which is home to the original David). If you don't want to pay or stand in long lines looking at artistic masterpieces, there are plenty of piazzas, cathedrals, and churches displaying beautiful statues, paintings, and frescos.

San Gimignano
Right in the earth of Tuscany, in the province of Siena, lies the "City of Beautiful Towers". Founded by the Etruscans, the charning town of San Gimignano was named after the Holy Bishop of Modena, credited with having saved it from the barbarian hordes. Thanks to the Via Francigena (the Francigena Road), the town reached the zenith of its importance during the Middles Ages. representatives of wealth and power, the remaing towers bear witness to the wealthy families who once erected them as staus symbols. According to the history books, San Gimignano had no less than 72 towers in the 14th century. The damage, however, caused by dire events such as plagues and famines, decimated rge population and saw many of the building structures collapse.

Tuscan wine
Tuscany was one of Italy's first regions to pioneer farm stays for tourists and has been very successful in this: hamlets, farms and even castles now offer excellent hospitality and country food. The new frontier in rural tourism now is wine cellars and wineries, in the past open only rarely to the public. It was here in Tuscany that the Wine Tourism Movement started in 1993, with the first experiment in Canytine Aperte (Open Wine Cellars). Today this enjoyable springtime festival has been extended to hundreds of places in Italy. Wine Trails (Strade del Vino) are also beginning to appear. Tuscany was the firts region in Italy to pass a law regulating the esatblishment and operation of these tourist routes.
There are now 14 wine trails, not such a large number given that some important wines like Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino have not yet been included.
